I was in Singapore recently for an internet marketing seminar, and was inspired to walk around the Singapore Botanical Gardens. Among many tropical trees and shrubs around the garden and the famous Singapore orchids, I found a cluster of bamboo trees.
I found out that bamboos are one of the fastest growing plants in the world. However their growth rate is dependent on local soil and climatic conditions as well as species. Generally it takes about 3 years for bamboo roots to grow well before the shoots start to grow out. Therefore bamboo is known for its persistence and determined character for building a strong base first and grow fast afterwards.
Unlike bamboo, eucalyptus tree is a fast growing tree from the beginning, but its roots are not as strong. If both are exposed to strong winds, bamboo can withstand the wind a lot better than eucalyptus. I apply this facts of nature in my learning journey in network marketing. Invisible results now for future success.
Here’s my little poem about bamboo and eucalyptus:
Eucalyptus and bamboo were planted on the same day,
However, only one fully blossomed in no time,
For three years there was no sign of bamboo tree,
Don’t be disheartened because you are bamboo,
It’s the roots that are planted very deep and strong
And because of this, it takes so long
After the storms, bamboo tree survives
Unlike Eucalyptus uprooted by the wind
So when the wind blows and overwhelmes
Just dance and bend
Be like bamboo
